About Edo Kiriko

Edo Kiriko – Glass Craftsmanship Shaped by Edo Aesthetics
Edo Kiriko is a traditional Tokyo glass craft.
Its origins date back to 1834, when Kagaya Kyubei, a glass artisan in Edo’s Odenma-cho, began engraving patterns onto glass surfaces.
After the Meiji period, the craft evolved by incorporating Western techniques.

Today, Edo Kiriko is regarded as a symbol of luxury craftsmanship, with delicate artisan skills passed down through generations.
Through processes such as cutting and polishing, intricate patterns are created, producing brilliant expressions of light—true glass art.
In 2002, Edo Kiriko was officially designated as a Traditional Japanese Craft.
